A man out and about in Tokyo with his pet budgerigar

Budgerigars are lovely little things. Affectionate. Funny. Even capable of uttering four letter words. The only trouble is they can’t be taken out and about, restricting all such interaction to inside the home.

Or at least that’s what I always thought. Quite wrongly as it turns out. As they can in fact be taken cycling.

And even shopping.

Never a shortage of pet wackiness over there.. I recall sloths, chimps, alligators (one had even gone feral and was caught in the local river) and of course designer mini-pigs that only cost about a grand a pop. bizzaro.

No, there’s not. Seen quite a few interesting sights in my time here. Merekats in Ginza stand out. As does a huge lizard in a temple. But an alligator would be something else!

      About an hour!

Nah, he was just about to stop at a crossing when I took the first photo. Then fortunately he got off and went into the shop on the other side of the street. So it was all over in a few shots, in a few minutes.

Great style. I wonder if it goes to the launderette with him too (it must be a matter of time)!

I reckon so. Pretty sure him and the little budgie go everywhere together. I also got one shot of them in a phone booth too, but wasn’t pleased with the way it came out.

Nah, it was in Hikifune, but could well be the same fella. Not exactly a common sight, is it? He was cycling through the shotengai when I first spotted him. Came as quite a surprise.

I want those pants! Were they baggy in the thighs like tobi? The pin stripes make them.
