A misty forest in the far west of Tokyo

Distance-wise, the far west of Tokyo is only a couple of hours or so from the capital’s more central districts, but in contrast to the crossings and crowds the city is famous for, it looks and feels like a completely different world.

    It is interesting how unusually straight most of the trees appear. This is not typical of the forests I have experienced.

      Yes, they really are. Just one that isn’t straight. They are cedar, I think, and this forrest is managed, so all the trees have enough space to grow.

      Even now it still amazes me that this area is Tokyo. And yes, it really is beautiful, with mountains, rivers and forests.
