Dec 27 2011 12 CommentsA (slightly) white Japanese Christmas Tokyo may not have seen any, but a few hours drive north there was a light dusting of snow, making it a slightly white, but still very Japanese, Christmas.
Oh my goodness, this beautiful shot makes me wish I were there! Gorgeous!
Thanks Bella. It was lovely and peaceful that’s for sure.
Merry Christmas, Lee! Thank you for generously sharing your view of Japan with us throughout the years!
You too Don! And I enjoy doing it, so glad you like it!
Beautiful and wonderful shot!

Love the torii and the leaveless trees with just enough snow to cover the path. Nice detail in the sky too!
Thanks! I’d spotted it from the road the day before, and decided to stop by and photograph it the next day, hoping there’d be a little snow. And like you said, luckily there was jet enough to cover the path. Very lucky.
This is a lovely photograph!
I’ve been reading about Christmas traditions in Japan, which is how I find myself here, and I can’t believe KFC is a popular Christmas meal. Is that true?
Yes, sadly it is true. It’s generally eaten on the evening of the 24th, and KFC do a roaring trade. Convenience stores have also got in on the act, selling their own Xmas fried chicken. It’s Christmas, but not as you’d know it!
