Did you try some?
I didn’t, no. It was mid-morning, so the wrong time of day for me. But I’ve eaten in countless places of a similarly grubby nature, and the food has always been great.
We’re going to have to agree to disagree on that point – I think there’s no wrong time of day for yakitori!
Haha! As much as I like it, for me it always goes with beer. And as much as I also like that, I don’t really want to start on it in the morning!
I’d happily buy some food there. All that grime shows he’s been cooking there for a long long time. He must know what he’s doing! 🙂
Likewise. Every time I’ve been past there has been a steady stream of customers, which further suggests he definitely does know what he’s doing!
That is a wonderfully busy scene you have captured.
One has to wonder which surface gets the attention of that spray cleaner on the left.
What is it that costs 4200 JPY? Is it 30 pieces of something?
I suspect the spray cleaner is purely ornamental!
Yeah, 30 sticks of chicken. And if you do buy 30, you get a bit of a discount.
Reminds me of places in northern china. And yeah, morning doesn’t work because you gotta have a beer with it. Midnight during the summer `was always the best at the chinese places I went to, plus you need Harbin pijo 🙂
Yes, the two are inseparable for me as well. One of those perfect combinations. Most beers will do, but ideally it’s a big bottle of Sapporo.

I can smell it from here. Are you a salt or sauce man?
It’s a truly wonderful smell, isn’t it?
Partial to both, but if I had to choose only one it’d have to be salt. Especially good I find on tsukune.

Tsukune is probably the only one that I have sauce with. Will be back over there next weekend so will be tempted into some greasy place I’m sure.
Either way it’s all good eh?
Hope you can find somewhere suitably good and grubby. Sure you will.
