The oddest of odd Japanese conversations?

Maybe they were discussing the merits (or otherwise) of Tokyo 2020. There again, maybe they weren’t. But what does seem more certain is that after a long summer of standing dutifully together, the spark in their relationship has become somewhat dimmed.

Japanese scarecrows

Somewhere there must be a district in Tokyo where all the shops specialize in these “severed” heads, just like Kappabashi .for kitchen goods.
Did the origin of these scarecrows come from samurai times? Each time a peasant got in the way of a samurai, his neighbour had a free scarecrow 🙂

Now that would be quite a place to visit!

Haha, I’d like to think not, but you never know…

These scarecrow images never cease to amuse me. Keep them coming.

Haha, yes. The spark certainly seems to have gone from their eyes. Where does the good go?

I’m not sure if I’m more creeped-out by these versions with their unsettling eyes born of the uncanny valley, or if the straw versions I grew up with are the more frightening.

I think they both have their moments, but in the semi-light of early evening, these fellas would probably be the most unsettling.

To be honest, even in the daytime, from a slight distance it was hard to know if these were alive or not…

Forget the zombie apocalypse, it’s the scarecrows you need to worry about, they’re coming for us, that’s what they’ve been doing all this time, plotting revenge, planning to rise…………(thud, thud, thud, thud GHAAAAAAA!!!)

Yes, silently waiting and watching. Always watching…

It looks like the one in white is either trying to bum change or pick a fight with the one in blue. Too funny.

Yeah, with that strangely indecipherable expression, there are any number of conversations that could be transferred to the scene.

I have to admit, there is more than a passing resemblance to you and I in conversation, Lee. You, being the fine fellow in the anorak and I, being the chinless fellow in the hat.
