    I like the metaphor of the gaffer tape holding the fabric of a society with such a wealth gap together.

    Voltaire may have said “The comfort of the rich depends upon an abundant supply of the poor”, but unless they behave in a fair and sometimes benevolent manner they risk losing their privileges.

      Yeah, that patchwork bit of tape did seem very significant, both as a divide, and a means of precariously holding things together.

      That’s very true. Increasingly so these days as well.
