Ueno colours and old school looks

Before the pandemic, Ueno’s Ameyoko market street was an area I regularly opted for on days when the light was just right. The atmosphere, trackside location, and most of all those shopping there made it a great place to take photos. Then Covid, and in particular mask wearing changed all that, meaning a once regular haunt became somewhere I rarely visited.

However, with most faces now mercifully uncovered, along with the great light Tokyo is often blessed with at this time of year, it’ll very likely become an irresistible location once again. Definitely so if I can come away with more photographs like the first one — a moment captured very recently. The other shots are all from that other time, providing some nice reminders as well as a good chance to show some previously posted and unposted pictures.

Thank you very much. I have a real soft spot for that one too. Came out way better than expected.

These are fabulous! My favs are the guy with the hat and paisley necktie and the young guy with the pompadour hairstyle. Thanks!

You are welcome as always and thanks a lot. I couldn’t believe it when I saw that young fella walking towards me. Mercifully nobody else got in the way and I could get the shot I wanted. Still amazed by how meticulously he was turned out.

That is a marvellous couple. The sun and blue sky only enhances their viridescent hair. Love the guys triple coat layering – a good move in the December weather.
The collection you have from this location highlights many things about your work, but particularly the brass you have to stand right in their way – reminiscent of David Attenborough and that 300lb silverback gorilla – none more so than the second photograph, also my favourite.

Thanks a lot. Yeah, they made for quite a striking sight. I didn’t even notice the fox til I saw the photo at home.

Haha, took some time to be able to do it, but a lot easier in Japan than many other counties. That second one came about so quickly that he thankfully didn’t even notice me. Some people, on their other hand, clearly do!

One (#1) for your ‘taking the dog/pet for a walk’ collection? I’m left wondering what their complete outfits were like and if more green was evident.
Good to see #3 (subtle avoidance or pre-occupation?) again .

I know eh? Somehow didn’t even notice the fox at the time. I was too dazzled by the matching greens. And yes, there was more of that colour evident.

Cheers. The third one was down to the weather. I just turned the corner and we were met by a gust of wind, hence her appearance. All worked out amazingly well really.

        Thanks for the update.
Sounds like you went the extra mile (the long and windy way) for number three!
