A beautifully disintegrating old Tokyo toy shop

Well, it’s a stationary shop that also stocks toys to be exact, but when a place looks as wonderful as this, what it actually sells seems almost irrelevant.

Yeah, a bit special, isn’t it? Wandered down a little street I’d never seen before and was rewarded with this. Made my day.

Yeah, that was a nice extra, and very timely addition.

It looks like it could be out of a children’s picture book or animation. So full of life and still open. Amazing! 🙂

That’s very true. Certainly made me feel like a kid again when I first saw it! And yes, the fact that it’s still a going concern makes it all the better.

What an amazing collage of colors! And a drink vending machine, too. What a find this was!

I know eh? So much to like. And yes, it really was a special find. Even better for being completely unexpected.

Where exactly is this? I went to a place that looked exactly like this and sold stuff like this when I was in Japan. Surely there are a hundred places that all look like this and I’m just mistaken.

There are definitely lots of old shops, although I’ve never seen one that looked quite like this. I found it on a long meandering walk, so don’t have an exact location, but it was in the Yanaka/Nezu area of Tokyo.
