A few iPhone photos #5

Talk of the best camera being the one you (always) have with you is an often declared adage, and thankfully, were the old iPhone’s camera was merely passable, the new one — when coupled with some apps of course — is surprisingly impressive.

Well, in some situations at least.

Such as capturing a cloudy and fairly moody Mount Fuji.

The strangely sad sight of a prepared festival place waiting for all the people to arrive.

A large tatami room that looks perfect for a lie down in.

And what seemed like a little shrine of some sort slowly falling to pieces in the forest.

Plus, in a small and far from private place, where such a piece of kit is possibly perfect, the sweet sight of love’s young dream.

Absolutely lovely. I don’t know how often people in Tokyo actually get to relax, but so many pictures from residents show these sleepy, gentle places. (esp tatami-floored rooms)

Cheers Katie! Yes, there are plenty of those places, although they might not get used that much…

I think finding shrines like that are one of the most beautiful things with Japan.

I agree. And luckily there are so many of them there’s always another one to discover.

Excellent stuff, Lee 🙂 Curious what apps you’ve been using, besides our ever-favorite TiltShiftGen.

    Cheers!

      Cheers Len!

My old favourite was BestCamera, but due to a lack of updates, it didn’t work well on the iPhone 4, so I gave Camera+ a go. Really happy with it, and with its regular updates, it looks set to get better.

I really like the “exposure” thing that Camera+ have in camera mode. Using one finger, you set the focus point, but using two fingers you also set the exposure point which works better a lot better than expected!

      Thanks!

Like I said to Len, Camera+ is my new favourite. It’s not perfect, but it’s easy to use and offers a wealth of options. Well worth a look.

Unfortunately Apple has removed Camera+ from the app store 😛 There is a terrible rip-off currently taking its place called “Camera Plus” – don’t be fooled. I don’t know why Camera+ was removed, but after seeing these beautiful shots, I’m bummed I can’t download it for myself!
