Despite its numerous deficiencies, I do enjoy experimenting with iPhone photography, and, as it’s sometimes the only camera I’m carrying, it also allows me to capture moments I may otherwise have missed.
Such as a really not so packed, and a really rather relaxing train.
A bike that certainly beats the school bus.
And a slice of that famed Japanese diet.
As well as that, it also offers the chance to play around with images of the Japanese coast.
Some of the less salubrious parts of the big city.
Along with scenes of the summer.
And autumn.
Plus finally, my personal favourite, a tremendous looking temple.
Should you be interested, all these, along with plenty of others, can be seen at Tokyo Times iPhone Photos, and new updates are also posted on my Twitter page.

I lived in Japan for 2 years, in 1988 and 2003, and your beautiful photos bring back so many memories – not to mention a touch of sadness that I was an impoverished student without a decent camera (let alone a phone) at the time!
Kathryn says
Actually that should have said 1988 and 1993 – worrying that I can lose a decade so easily!!
Lee says
Glad to hear the photos bring back memories. Both good and bad. And what’s a decade between friends!
MrSatyre says
All great as usual!
Lee says
Thanks MrSatyre!
Jeffrey says
You took all these with an iPhone? What photo app are you using? The embedded iPhone camera app is horrible in my experience.
Lee says
Yeah, all iPhone shots Jeffrey. I mostly use Camera+ and Best Camera. And sometimes a combination of the two. Plus I use TiltShift Generator now and again. I’ve tried numerous others, but keep going back to those three.
Peta says
Amazing! It’s really hard to believe these are taken with an iPhone!
Lee says
Thanks Peta. A bit of editing with apps can make all the difference.
Lizzy says
I’m with Peta. iPhone takes WAY better pics than my phone.
Lee says
Maybe Lizzy, but like I said to Peta, a bit of editing with apps makes the photos look very different, and much more striking. Certainly very different than the ones straight from the camera.
Dan Ryan says
Love these, Lee, particularly the motorscooter/Denny’s image.
Lee says
Cheers Dan. I like that one myself. It certainly came as quite a surprise when they pulled up beside me.

Thanks for all the great photos. its one of the reasons why i love reading your blog.
Where was that temple?
Lee says
Thank you. I love taking photos, so it’s really nice to hear other people get something out of them too.
Oh, and the temple is in the middle of China Town in Yokohama. At the weekend, it’s as impressive as it is busy!
josie smith says
Really beautiful work. I drop by regularly, but really should comment more often.
Lee says
Thanks Josie. Very nice of you to say so. And the fact that you regularly drop by is more than enough.
Stephanie says
wow, these are iPhone shots!? i guess it’s time i hop onto the bandwagon then!! good play with colours and all, Lee-san!
Lee says
Thanks Stephanie. Yeah, all iPhone shots. And it’s a good wagon to be on. But I am, I must admit, a bit biased.
alexa says
Out of curiosity, what kind of filtering / coloring is that on the Marinca photo? Looks very pretty.
Lee says
Definitely cross process alexa. And I think (it was a while ago when I took the picture), HDR too.
grant says
I like the three wheel scooter.
Linette says
Gorgeous photos!
Lee says
Thanks Linette!
Laura says
Oh my gosh, I recognize the Marinca place! That’s in Takadanobaba isn’t it? I used to see it fairly frequently when I lived in Tokyo. Seeing it here brings back memories!
Lee says
Yes, it’s in Takadanobaba Laura. It’s a building that has always fascinated me. Happy to hear it brought back some memories.
Victor says
Awesome!

Felicitaciones!, tus fotos son espectaculares (your photos are amazing!!). I´m a photographer too. I use a Canon 350d (bastante buena, para amateurs) and I also take some photos with my cellphone. Averiguaré respecto del “Best Camera” and the “TiltShift Generator”, ¿are a kind of little photoshop for phones?. Sorry for my poor english. Again, your photos are greats -increÃbles-!!
