A real alley cat

A no nonsense, no qualms, in no way inhibited, Tokyo alley cat.

Lost a bit of their tail it seems- must’ve been someone’s pet at one time, as it appears to still have a collar.

That’s a good point. It could well belong to one of the bars, leading a semi-wild life.

It’s probably at Japanese Bobtail. Look up ‘Japanese Bobtail’ in Wikipedia.

Haha, they clearly know I’m more of a dog person!

The same expression you get from a lot of your subjects when they see you taking their picture.

Yes, it’s not at all dissimilar, although thankfully people tend not to urinate!

I’ve always wondered why so many Japanese cats have stunted tails…. There are a lot of them

Cheers for the link. That’s interesting. Not something I’ve noticed to be honest, but I’ll definitely look out for it in the future.

Looks like the feline equivalent of Daido Moriyama’s “Stray Dog”

Hadn’t noticed that, but yeah, that’s very true. I shall have to try a close crop, convert it to monochrome and see what it looks like.
