In suburban Tokyo, the bicycle is a convenient mode of transportion for millions. From shopping to commuting, and everything in between, bikes are absolutely everywhere.
With so many in use then, it’s inevitable that a good number of them get left behind. Trusty, basket boasting steeds that for one reason or another were deemed surplus to requirements. These then are just some of the machines destined never to be ridden again.

Oh man what an awesome set!

Thanks a lot. Always nice to find these old bikes.

“basket boasting steeds” ! Sir, you are a wordsmith 🙂
I do hope the first “T” on the frame of the black bike flakes away before the others – and that you happen past shortly after.
Lee says
Haha, thank you. Must admit I was quite pleased with that phrase.
And yes, how perfect would that be?
Richard says
Wow, a LOT of them! My fav is the one with the purple leaves growing around it. Thanks!
Lee says
Yeah, although they were taken over many years. Those purple leaves are incredible, aren’t they? Very unusual.

one of my favorite genres of Tokyo pictures 🙂 thanks, I needed that today
Lee says
You are welcome, and very glad to hear they arrived at the right time.
Paul says
I’d love to see the moment when the owners of these bikes park them for the last time.
Thanks Lee.

I hadn’t thought of that, but yes, that would be fascinating. Planned or otherwise, the last ever outing.
