An assortment of Tokyo summer scenes

The sets of images I usually post are invariably put together to try and tell a story, or tie similarly themed photos together. These, however, don’t really work that way, as the only things they have in common are their differences, along with the fact they were all taken recently in Tokyo. And in that sense at least, they provide a way to show the surprises a city on such a scale can regularly conjure up. Which, in a way, is a theme in itself.

Amazing that there are still people dweeping with the whole Axes-Imperial-Nazi thing … can’t even get angry about it, it’s just really sad. Thanks for the pictures.

You are welcome, and yeah, it really is. Thankfully only a very small number.

That first pic is Gold… love the colours.
The running cop in front of a wall that match his uniform is quite the timing!
The nationalists/nazis… as said before, sad people.

Cheers. Really like that little shop, and the light (and lights) on that day was just about perfect

But yeah, not much left to say about them, but they still turn up so I still photograph them. Have to say though, there did seem to be less of them this year.

Not sure if it is sad or worrisome that people are seeking ‘glory’ in a past that brought horror and death to millions.

Yeah, completely agree. There is definitely a paying respects element with some of them, although it has to be said there are some strange ways of going about it…

That first one of the store. Oh my heart. How can I feel such nostalgia about something that wasn’t even part of my own past?

It’s a real beauty, isn’t it? Wanted a photo of it for the longest time, but the light was never right when I passed. Thankfully it all worked out this time. And yeah, I don’t know the answer, but I do know exactly what you mean.

The festival in August, sometimes they put some accelerated rhythms at the Bon Odori summer festival from this pic:

Oh, nice. Thanks. Never seen or heard more modern approaches like that before.

A fascinating collection Lee. What a contrast the first and last three make.

Thank you very much. Yeah, definitely at very different ends of the ‘traditional’ spectrum that’s for sure.

No.4 following No. 3 suggests another group activity, that and the fact I have obviously read too many articles about the benefits of standing on one leg (for older people!)
I just found a less accelerated ‘Livin’ on a Prayer’ was included in the Bon Odori festival… no connection I assume?

Cheers. I like those two together. They seemed to work. And a one leg workout added to the mix.

Haha, none that I know of.
