Photographs from a small group of islands
When conducting one of my Tokyo photowalk tours, I can easily guarantee certain sights and experiences, but exactly who we’ll see and potentially meet is obviously far more difficult to determine. So with that in mind, having the chance to photograph this elderly couple when out on a tour last week was especially pleasing. A pair whose home, garden and natural warmth provide a pretty much perfect example of why older Tokyo is so incredibly appealing.
Shinjuku crafted lines, and crossing lines.
This old lady must have more than a few stories to tell, and there’s possibly even another in regards why she was sat by the side of a busy, city centre street. Sadly none of which I know, but all of which are worthy of speculation.
When doing a bit of work on my portfolio site the other day, I came across the photo below. It was taken about a decade ago, but in many ways it now feels considerably more prescient than it ever did back then.
Even after retreating to one of Tokyo’s old and quiet little corners, there was still no escape from Trump’s trip to the capital. But whereas avoiding him was impossible.
Ignoring him clearly wasn’t.
