Big government (building)

The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building has two observatories (north and south), but due to the hazy conditions on Wednesday, the view from the bottom was far more impressive than at the top.

This image seems that’s been made with a computer. Seems 3D.

I’ve been in it. I remember being on the observation deck and wondering if The Big One might choose that day to hit.

Nothing like being towards the top of a skyscraper to remind you how earthquake-prone Japan is.

Great picture. I love this site.

    Great photo!

I think that it might look 3D because of the building’s texture.

I’m working in this building everyday. Its design was decided by the competition.

When this building was built, people blamed the government for wasting money…

How many stories is this building? It looks REALLY tall!

A very bold and impressive accomplishment in structural design. What happens during an earthquake if the two towers resonate at different (wavelengths) frequencies? Wouldn’t the reciprocal energy generated cause the central structure to simply ‘implode’ with the result that the entire building might collapse?

In this case, what technique have the engineers employed to adequately isolate ground-waves from producing just this result?

An old Californian earthquake rider, Best regards and good-luck!

… Boring. Nice pic of a boring building. So it’s huge… yaaawn. I think the Japanese lost their sense of architectural style when Perry showed up.
