Books, a Tokyo car park, and a trilby

This temporary bookshop in a concrete surrounded Tokyo car park was interesting enough, but its distinctive, trilby-wearing customer easily bettered it. A man who almost looks like he could be out of a book, rather than someone merely about to read one.

Really cool contrast with the paper of the books and the concrete jungle. Your ma here looks an awful lot like Gary Oldman.

Haha, been mentioned elsewhere too. To be honest it hadn’t crossed my mind, but now I can’t see him as anyone other than a Japanese Mr Oldman!

Haha, that seems to be the general consensus!

Quite possibly. The Christmas decorations have been up since late last month in some places…

He really does look like he is out of a book. And what a great place for a popup bookshop.
As for his Gary Oldman appearance, he even seems to have the same glasses frames.

It is, isn’t? Part of annual fair they have in Jimbocho; an area already packed with a wonderful array of bookshops.

Blimey, well spotted. I’m now inclined to think that the look isn’t coincidental at all.

He looks so much like Gary Oldman in that film based on the John le Carre spy novel.

I know eh? Considering how much he really does look like him, right down to the glasses and facial hair, I’m now pretty sure it’s a carefully manufactured look rather than just a mere coincidence.
