Over the last few years or so, much has been made of Japan’s investment in robot technology. Cutting-edge machines that are designed to help care for and comfort the growing elderly population. A vast array of others that’ll do the jobs of countless humans. Plus the odd one or two that despite massive outlays seem to do little more than dance — badly.
These busty behemoths, however, have been created to do nothing more than entertain. And that they most certainly do, in a suitably bawdy manner.

Crackin’ contraptions there! They’d make a refreshing change from mobility scooters!
Lee says
They would indeed. Perhaps not ideal for popping down to the supermarket though!
An Expat says
Only in Japan…………
Lee says
Yeah, pretty much. Hard to imagine such a thing anywhere else in the world. Even more so one accepted so freely — with indifference almost.
Lizzy says
Hilarious! If a bit frightening to imagine militarized versions. Even so, I love how so many people aren’t looking at all. “Whatever, giant robot ladies, nothing new here”. Almost like looking into the future.
Lee says
Yes, that’s what struck me. Well, after the initial surprise of giant, busty robotics. They barely caused a second glance. Really not sure if that’s a good or bad thing…
Christina Martin says
We kept seeing them in Akihabara during a recent trip. Could never get the camera out in time. Thanks!
Lee says
You are welcome!
I’ve seen them out on the streets once before, but likewise I couldn’t get a shot. Good to get this one, albeit from a bit of a distance.
Taki says
Just when I thought, I might have seen it all… *sigh*
Lee says
Ah, but deep down you know you have never seen it all when it comes to Tokyo!
LAObserver says
Looks like even robots have a certain affectation for non-human colored hair.
Lee says
I guess as Japanese robots, it seems only right that they have a love of fashion — and hair dye.
winnie says
These Giant humanoid robots looked crude to me. Whenever I saw them, I will sorry for them. They should look nicer!
Lee says
Yes, but their form of entertainment is crude, so it’s quite fitting!
PeterD says
I saw them when I was in Japan back at Christmas time. Seems they match up to a restaurant in Kabukicho that has some similarly interesting robots in it, including one which a client would sit in and some interesting thing would happen to them (in a wind, so not THAT interesting).
Lee says
Yeah, there’s a link to the restaurant in the write up. From what I’ve heard it’s a lot of daft, over the top, fun.
