For centuries, people have been making their way to Kamakura in order to make wishes at the well known and absolutely whopping Daibutsu.
However, for modern Tokyo worshipers after far more tangible — and indeed tabby-related — treats, Sanrio has unveiled the world’s largest Hello Kitty statue in Shinjuku. A place where the company presumably hopes people will come and pray for as much pussy as they can possibly pick up.
Perhaps.
For the wedding guest after a Hello Kitty gift there’s a whole gamut of goods on offer; however, from tomorrow, Sanrio is offering the option of a wedding witnessed by the famous feline herself, along with her rather less distinguished date, Daniel — all for the suitably ceremonial sum of 75,600 yen (708 dollars).
But not in person unfortunately, although the carefully carved look-alikes produced from pictures will allow any Kitty-loving couple to feel that the all-powerful one was actually present. Her face, were it to have any features, presumably wishing them a fun-filled future.
As well as a lifetime spent amassing similarly meaningless merchandise.
Labels such as Louis Vuitton may be all well and good for the likes of luggage, but as far as footwear is concerned, the true fashionista would be an absolute fool to opt for anything other than colourful Kitty-themed creations.
These ultra stylish sandal-cum-slippers being perfect for either sunny saunters or simply sitting on the sofa, as well as allowing the wearer to savour the soothing glow of Sanrio satisfaction.
The ever-increasing consumption of all things Christmas related in Japan has, perhaps not surprisingly, come under the calculating consideration of the nation’s most conniving cat, Hello Kitty.
Meaning that to regular readers and feline fanatics alike, I unfortunately can’t wish you a Merry Christmas,
but instead, a Happy Hello Kitty Holidays!

A cute as can be waist wobbler that is perfect for easing the effects of year end excesses. And it also comes with a free face towel.
Plus if all that wasn’t enough, prolonged use of the thing apparently produces an appearance as appealing as this one.
The vibration loving pussy maybe even allowing the purchaser to squeeze into a pair of Hello Kitty pants.
