Tokyo trends

Appearance is arguably everything in Japan, with clothing often clearly identifying a person’s role in society, all the way from subdued suited salary men to elegantly turned out elevator girls. Possibly the best known of these outfits outside Japan being the skimpy-skirted schoolgirl’s sailor suit; an ensemble particularly popular with the cosplay contingent — both female,

and male.

Yet for the man who works but doesn’t wear a suit (or indeed a schoolgirl uniform), there is fortunately a one-stop shop, which, rather appropriately, is called Workman.

A retailer with racks of stuff to rig-out even the most fashion conscious contractor — regardless of his profession.

But as good as Workman’s garb undoubtedly is, it surely can’t compare to the company’s commercials, which are so criminally bad they are good.

Almost.

Millionaire mercenaries

Penguins with preposterously paid personalities would appear to suggest that the Japanese bubble may once again be about to become airborne.

A trend no doubt being tracked by a particular U.S. politician after his now well publicised appearances of the past.

Tokyo tackle

With the number of obesity cases rapidly rising throughout the world, a Japanese game show may have inadvertently stumbled upon an idea that could single-handedly reverse the trend — its revolutionary take on the humble exercise bike set to take the fitness industry by storm.

Whilst hopping on such a machine generally isn’t the most uplifting way to start the day, it’s a whole different ball game when the resultant pedal power is converted into electricity, which in turn lights up a nearby box containing a bikini-clad beauty.

Smoke screen

Whilst smokers in Japan are more likely to be coached in manners than coaxed to quit, the land of cigarette vending machines and baccy bras is not the heavy smoking haven it once was.

But although the rasping refugees in the comical commercial below would now more than likely find their fair share of smoke-free restaurants and some surprisingly rigid tobacco-related regulations, it doesn’t make the ad any less amusing.

Upskirt peeking product

Like television the world over, Japan has its fair share of programmes dedicated to the apparent delights of a brilliant new blender or the latest weight loss wonder; however it also caters for more specialist needs — like upskirt panty peeking for example.

Yes, for those whose preference is seeking a peek up a young girl’s skirt, help is finally at hand (so to speak), with the aid of an elaborate costume and some relatively advanced balancing skills.

And it works too, as after being set the task of confirming the colour of the schoolgirl’s panties, the show’s intrepid sex pest succeeded — a fact happily confirmed by the young lady herself.

The footage itself is a little on the cheeky side, but apart from a partial posterior peek like the one below, it’s relatively safe for work.
