After suffering decidedly flat sales, the switch from lingerie magazine to online store has worked wonders for these Canadian-made nipple enhancers.

From dismal figures of only 10 pairs a month, it now seems that Japanese women can’t get enough of these protruding pads. And with the help of TV and magazine reports, they are now flying off the shelves at a rate of 2,000 pairs a month.

Yet as snow is still falling and temperatures remain uncomfortably low, could it be the nice velvet bag they come in that is attracting so many customers?

Panty pilfering imposter

Whilst underwear theft isn’t exactly unusual, 56-year-old Hisao Okumura’s approach to panty pilfering most definitely is.

Adopting a plan that somehow must have seemed like a good idea at the time, Okumura-san dressed himself up as a woman so as not to attract attention as he perused panties. But considering his age, donning a long wig, boots, and a miniskirt arguably wasn’t the best plan in the world. And a similarly poor judgment call was that he didn’t use any make-up.

Needless to say a security guard spotted Okumura immediately due to his unusual attire, and kept him under surveillance as he lingered around the lingerie. A decision that eventually resulted in Mr. Okumura being apprehended for attempting to steal 3 items of underwear worth a total of 13,000 yen (65 pound).

During questioning, the accused was refreshingly honest, telling officers, “I wanted underwear.”

Now whilst there’s nothing necessarily wrong with a desire to possess panties, in the future perhaps buying them might be a better option for Okumura-san. As regardless of the design, surely it can’t be anymore embarrassing than getting caught stealing underwear whilst dressed in a miniskirt and sporting a wig.

The key to success

Chocolate is the Valentine’s Day present of choice in Japan, but for the slightly more imaginative, Triumph International has come up with this racy little number.

The Little Evil Angel’s Bra as it’s called was a big seller last winter, and the bra sported the words, “You are the only one who’s got a key to open my heart.” But as you can see from the picture, this year’s design has gone one step further and actually included a real lock to open.

Meaning the person lucky enough to be given a key should be able to get those undergarments off quicker than you can say “modern-day chastity belt.”

Perverted panty procurer

Whilst the ban on used underwear selling is probably to be commended, it could be argued that the clampdown has pushed the nation’s panty perverts into ever more desperate and debauched behaviour.

As in the early hours of Saturday morning, a man armed with a paper cutter attempted to get a 25-year-old woman to part with her panties in the middle of a Sapporo street. Thankfully the woman didn’t succumb to part-time worker Mitsuaki Fujieda’s deviant demand, and after letting out a scream, the would-be panty pilferer ran away.

Yet perhaps emboldened by her attackers reaction, the woman and her friend gave chase and managed to catch the fleeing Fujieda-san. After eventually being handed over to the police, the man was charged with attempted robbery.

Used panty purchasers beware

Whilst the selling of used underwear in Tokyo is now illegal, from all accounts the trade in such items is still brisk. As despite shops now receiving hefty fines if caught in possession, a burgeoning cottage industry has developed to counter the ban, allowing panty perverts to still get their fix.

But this rather amusing video highlights the potential pitfalls of panty purchasing.
