Daily life scenes from a lesser-seen side of Tokyo

The vast majority of my Tokyo photowalk tours navigate the older parts of the capital, along with others that cover more rundown areas. The photos below, however, were on a meander designed to combine a bit of both. All of which were taken just over a week ago. Little slices of life that detail how much of the capital once was, as well as how different it can be from locations the city is better known for, such as Shibuya and Harajuku.

Thanks a lot. Only time I’ve ever seen someone going in or out of the building in the first frame, so very happy with that one.

More great documentation. The elderly man smiling and doing calligraphy is so appealing.

Thank you very much. He was lovely. Been studying since he was since 17, and his journey continues on.

A great collection. Some old favourites and some personally familiar and some new. You are putting so much contents in recent posts.
I love the trio in lockstep crossing the road, on their way to a World Order concert perhaps 🙂 And those grimy turquoise times are something special.

Thanks a lot. We saw a lot. Even got on the roof of a certain overgrown hotel during the same walk, but those photos will have to wait.

Haha, yes, they do look like they could be.

Excellent work as always. I also love the shodo man! And the one fourth from the bottom – what an absolute stunner. Precious lives in precarious structures.

Thanks a lot. He was lovely. Started shodo at the age of 17, and still going strong with it at the age of 90.
