Elevator design isn’t something that I usually take much notice of, but the silver simplicity (and the blatant disregard for floors 2 to 37) of these buttons is somehow rather beautiful.
Or is it just me?
I fear it might be.

It is elegantly simple indeed! It would be even more simple without that “close” button, which I theorize is there only to make elevator passengers feel that they have some slight control over their destiny. “See! It did close when I pushed the button. There was just a 2 minute delay!”
I love the Hyatt hotels, the first big one I stayed in was the one in Baltimore, Maryland for the Otakon Anime convention. Wow! those elevators are fast! Traverse 60 floors in 10-25 seconds or less – the further you are from your destination floor, the faster the ride goes.
oh yeah. you think this elevator is so cool.
i don’t think so. in my country (indonesia) there is one building, that do not have buttons inside the elevator!
they only have display that represent the number of floor.
i don’t joking.it’s really true.
it’s a building with about 30 floors, i forgot the name of the building.
i know, you probably wonder how we are going to the floor that we want to.
here’s the catch, there is six elevators, mark with the alphabet of “A to F”, in front of the elevators there is a panel that you can type the number of floor that you are going to, than the panel will display the number of elevator you must use.
for example you type number “36” than it will display “A elevator”
now you go to the elevator with mark “A”, it will take you right to the
36 floor.
it will not stop in other floor, except if someone press number “30” and
the panel display “A elevator” too.
than the elevator with mark “A” will stop in 30 and 36 floor.

I took the picture at the Yebisu Garden Tower.
Fortunately it was a week day, so I was in there on my own.

So how did you get to the other floors?
Lee says
I didn’t!
But there are other elevators should you need to.

… I miss elevator girls. Escalator girls, too. Hope they come back if the economy ever recovers.
