From Tokyo bar, to home, to abandoned

The stark contrast of a little bar or business that has become a car park is always shocking, but the transition from a home to merely an empty building is no less moving. In fact it probably has even more impact, as it’s the cycle of life made tangible rather than something that’s mostly tucked away in the back of our minds.

What more poignant an example of the declining population in Japan than these empty homes?!? It saddens me to think there are not enough surviving family members to move into the home.

Yeah, very symbolic. It’s amazing how many abandoned homes there are. A lot in Tokyo too, which truly boggles the mind.

Yeah, going past an empty house that was once a vibrant home full of life always hits really hard.

You have also captured the bar next door that has now gone. Poignant is the right word!

Sadly that whole block is going the same way. Rapidly heading towards demolition I think…
