Happy Japanese family

Well, mother and son are happy — of that there’s no doubt. The father’s expression, however, make his feelings much harder to fathom.

First of all, I love the angle that you’re using in these street photos, really works with the sky in there.
Difficult to make sense of this family, it looks like they are visiting, and Dad certainly is worried about something!

Thanks! I like it myself. Can’t get enough of Ueno on a sunny day.

Yes, quite possibly day-trippers. Maybe Dad is worried about how long he may have to hang around the shops!

Cheers! Quite a look, isn’t it? One that is definitely open to interpretation.

I’m thinking the son has moved to the big city, it’s his parents first visit … Mum loving it, Dad more than little apprehensive!

Could be. And imagine how apprehensive Dad might be once they head into Kabukicho. Ot there again, his apprehension may disappear!

Little did Ken know that, instead of going to Disneyland as he had been told, his parents were really taking him to the local JSDF recruitment offices.

Hence his father’s expression — guilt!
