Japanese Coming of Age Day generations

One is coming of age, but both of them are very much creatures of the age.

Always love the site of a kimono. So elegant. Also love the contrasts here. The two girls, posters and bags. Great shot. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. I like the contrasts too, they work well on a few levels. Great when things are almost perfectly set up like that!

Speaking of perfect setup – I like that reflection which looks like stylized smoke coming from Mt Fuji and continuing off the poster.

Good call. Hadn’t even noticed that, but now I can’t stop noticing it. Cheers. Can’t claim to have planned it, but still nice to have captured it.

Pretty much. Although to be fair, it’s certainly not an iAge just for the younger generation…

This looks so perfect, like you actually set them up (yes, I know you didn’t)

I know. Couldn’t have asked for a better set up really. Lovely when it works out like that. Just wish it happened more often!

It’s amazing how you manage to make Tokyo look sparsely populated 🙂
The coming of age day produces some great sights – a few years ago I saw a series of photos of traditionally dressed young women in the snow.

It was in Shinjuku station, so people everywhere, but fortunately they were all rushing about behind me. This little enclave was just the two in the photo.

Yes, seen some crackers from that day. Really should have gone out myself, but I ended up being a big softie and instead enjoyed the warmth and comfort of home.

Great shot, how did you get to stand so perfectly in the right spot? 🙂

Cheers. One of those lovely occasions when the shot was there, just waiting to be taken.
