Japanese public sleeping companions

Public sleeping is a fairly common sight in Tokyo. So common, in fact, that on a soothingly warm autumn afternoon, it’s sometimes practiced with similarly lethargic companions.

    Love this pic.

Alternate title: Olympus Camera Corporation’s Internal Audit Department.

Cheers! Yes, although they’d probably be considered a little too on the ball for Olympus…

Judging by the picture it’s hard to tell what year it was made. It could have been taken half a century ago. Very plausible. 🙂

Not with the alternative title though!
Interestingly the original Olympus Pen was released 50 years ago.

Yeah, 50 years in the past Olympus can do, but it’ll be interesting now to see if they can manage 50 years in the future.

I love seeing pictures like this, even through all the crazy things that are going on people can still find it peaceful enough to sleep outside, and the fact they aren’t getting mugged or defaced at all or even bothered by the police says a LOT for this country imo. Best part is they aren’t being judged as “homeless” because they’re taking a nap in a public location.

From my experience, there doesn’t need to be any peace and quiet for people to sleep here, but yeah, it is great that people can do so without fear for their possessions, or indeed themselves.

This photo just made me smile! It reminded me of my nana when she would doze off. It didn’t matter where she was, when she had to “rest her eyes” she would do just that!

That’s how I felt when I saw them. My Grandma never used to nod off either, she also just ‘rested her eyes’!
