Hours of walking can very often result in nothing photographically, but to be fair, Tokyo does tend to reward perseverance. And on this particular day, the wonderfully unexpected sight of a young fella doing his thing in a floral frock was ample recompense for the many kilometres covered.

And a colorful frock it is. Lol! He was obviously happy to be noticed.
Lee says
Isn’t it?!
Yeah, he wasn’t shy. Actually he was having his photo taken by someone else, but as I was walking by I lifted up my camera and he was more than happy to strike a pose.

I can’t decide which I love most, his clothes, the stance or how totally proud he looks! 🙂 great capture!
Lee says
Thanks. Yeah, he was an interesting fella for a few reasons. He seemed like a genuinely good sort too.

I’m curious in knowing what’s written on the sign. Perhaps it would add a significant meaning to the whole scene.
Something like: “Artists entrance” or “Sunday only” or “Yes We Can”! (haha sorry)
Nice shot.

Bicycle parking prohibited. So…?
Lee says
Thanks.
Yeah, something coincidentally appropriate would have been great, but sadly not to be…

Oh man he is so Job – ( collection of best Job moments from Banshee https://youtu.be/L67bbX5RkxI some probably NSFW).
Lovely photograph and one that deserves the exception from the “no poses” rule 🙂
Lee says
Cheers. And yes, definitely deserving of an exception. A pose as wonderfully unconventional as his outfit.
Thanks. Will have a look at the link later when I have time. Interested to see it.

On my recent trip, I saw high school males in uniform, but wearing long pleated skirts instead of pants – twice, on the trains during rush hour. Maybe they weren’t actual HS students, but it made me wonder if it’s a thing.
There was a very brief fad, maybe some twenty years ago (?) in the West, USA & Euro, for men wearing skirts, not kilts, but actual skirts. Didn’t last long. Don’t think that’s what’s going on here, given the fancy shoes and other bling, but breezy!

In the UK this summer during a heatwave (yes we do have them occasionally :-)) one bunch of teens made the news by wearing school uniform skirts because they were not allowed to wear shorts. “Feel the breeze” indeed.
Lee says
That’s funny about the kids in the UK. Full marks for bending the rules in their favour!
Sadly no idea about the students here. Not something I’ve seen. My sightings have only been men way past school age wearing girls uniforms. No long skirts either…
Some traditional outfit of some kind perhaps? Can’t imagine what though.
