Japanese summer survival

With the seasonal heat and humidity now firmly ensconced in the Japanese capital, confining oneself in air-conditioned comfort is the most successful way of surviving the summer, but when venturing outside simply can’t be avoided, there are several tried and trusted techniques to help diminish any discomfort.

For the particularly adventurous, simply taking off one’s trousers helps cut down any uncomfortable clamminess.

Or, for the more timid, a towel tied round the head is a time-honoured tactic.

But, when all is said and done, a fan is by far the best approach, and, like many things in life, the bigger they are the better. Although waving such a whopper about can be a bit unwieldy.

Where did you get that photo?! Excellent and made me smile at the end of a long day. Don’t you think it’s great though that we get to see stuff like that in Tokyo. Anywhere else and you’d be carted off to a police cell in 2 second flat! Not that I’m saying I want to see that – hopefully you know what I mean.

Glad you liked that cheeky little shot Honor. It (well, all of them in fact) were taken at the Kanamara Matsuri, the, erm, penis festival. That day I think everyone would have been carted off by the police!
