Mount Fuji on a crystal clear morning

Mount Fuji can be coy at the best of times, and the day before, clouds had completely obscured the famous mountain — the lake too most of the time. Early the following morning, however, it was a different story altogether, with that wonderful conical shape uncovered and happily anything but bashful.

It really was. An absolute treat to see. Not a bad way to start the day.

Stunning! Love the colors in the photo. Was it taken at Hakone?

In a few weeks there’ll be more in the way of autumn colours, but I really couldn’t complain!

Yes, Hakone. Never been to that particular viewing spot before, and fortunately it didn’t disappoint.

Aren’t they? I was driving up there as fast as I could, desperately hoping the clouds wouldn’t come over and turn everything grey. So happy we got that lovely blue sky.

Thanks! Yeah, I took it this week — on Wednesday morning.

I went to Hakone, Friday, October 30. Five days before you. Beautiful day, but the Fuji was playing hide-and-seek in the clouds. We could only make out the top. 🙂
Sometimes, it is easier to see it from a Shinkansen going to the Kansai. 🙂

It is. On the drive down on Tuesday, it was lovely and clear. Then seemingly the minute we got to Hakone, the clouds came in, and within half an hour not only Fuji, but the whole lake was covered by cloud…

If you’ve got a 2560×1440 version of this shot then I’d love to have it as my desktop wallpaper. It’s beautiful!

Bravo! And an unusual shot. It’s great to see a non-iconic, non-stereotypical view of Fujisan – even though I’m still a fan of iconic, stereotypical views; it’s just an awesome mountain. Without its snow-capped, normal visage, one might be somewhat hard pressed to identify it. I ran a quick Guguru image search, and nothing looked like this – nice.

The Photography Kami were on your side that day… although, I dare say, they seem to be on your side pretty frequently LOL

Thank you! They were. Couldn’t have asked for a better view. The complete opposite of the day before too. An amazing difference.

Quite an unusual angle, isn’t it? Have my Father-in-law to thank for that. He told me about the spot.

Tis stunning wherever you see it from though, isn’t it? An incredible sight each and every time.

Lovely shot and composition. It has an almost hdr quality about it.
Sadly the only shots I managed to get of Fuji was on approach and on leaving Haneda, and despite the spectacular above-the-clouds angle airplane windows are not the best of mediums to shoot through.

      Thanks a lot!

No, they aren’t. But at least you got to see it I guess. Fuji is a mountain that definitley likes to hide its beauty…

Beautiful shot! I was over there at Atsugi for two years and views like this were few and far between. I, too, would like a suitable copy for my desktop if available.
Thanks for sharing. It brings fond memories.

      Thanks!

This is probably one of only three really clear shots I’ve ever got. The mountain doesn’t make it easy, does it?

No worries. Mail me with the size you want and I’ll happily send you a copy.
