Old, shuttered and dilapidated Tokyo

The modernisation of Tokyo continues apace, but fortunately large sections of the city still contain wonderfully dilapidated remnants of the past.

I like this a lot. The brightness of the woman’s pink clothes really stand out against faded background. Really nicely done!

Thanks! Needless to say I was very pleased when she walked past!

Very cool! Great framing as always. Great timing too! 😉

Cheers. It was, although I had to wait for it. My patience was running out when she walked past, so very glad I hung on a bit longer.

Maybe the trail of pink arrows helped? :O)

What an oddly placed door on the floor above.

Yeah, I really like the matching pink arrow. Hadn’t noticed it til I edited the photo, which needles to say came as a very nice surprise.

I know eh? The even odder thing is I’ve seen lots of doors like that in Japan…

A great contrast of grunge and grace.
You manage to capture people mid-stride so well. Mostly in my snaps people look as if they have broken legs or are mid dance move. Your people look natural, even in movement.
That door is fascinating. It even has an open padlock on it, so you couldn’t exit (probably a good thing) but you could enter at will, (given a pair of stilts or handy ladder).

      Cheers.

Never thought about that. Must be luck more than anything, as it’s the position of the person is in the frame that concerns me more than anything. Never really consider their stride/movement.

Those doors really are odd. Some of them make sense as it’s possible part of the structure has been removed at some point, but that doesn’t seem to be the case here…
