In a bid to attract more visitors, the newly opened LaLaport shopping complex in Toyosu, Tokyo, has opted for a decidedly unorthodox approach — the display of an obscenely large organ.
Yet perhaps surprisingly (or not as the case may be), this novel idea would appear to be a hit, with passing office worker Kaori Gotou gasping, “I’ve never seen one anywhere near as big as that before!†The 24-year-old further adding, “I’d love to take it home with me and attempt get to grips with it, but to be honest, I think I’d struggle to fit it in.â€
Similarly impressed was part-time dental assistant Mayumi Watanabe, who cheekily chirped, “I’d be happy to wake up to a whopper like that every morning.â€
Comments that are sure to please the complex’s owner, especially after all the trouble and expense of importing the 19th Century pipe organ in question all the way from England.

Oh, that’s nothing. The Wanamaker building in Philadelphia is home to one of the largest pipe organs in the world (and yes, the space where it’s located is in a department store). Don’t know if that’s where the LaLaport people got the idea from, though…

I’d love to run my hands all over that!

That’s Jason’s Organ! I have seen it a couple of times when I visited his apartment in Toyosu. It is a massive organ, indeed. I wouldn’t mind running my fingers up and down it for a few musical discharges. It is not often that one gets to finger such prime wood.
*Jason really does live nearby.

I’m sure my husband Mike would love to try that one out. Of course, any excuse to get to Tokyo would do.

Oversized? Obscenely large? What is this? It’s beautiful that this 19th. jewell was preserved in our days! The organ is very large when have over 50 stops, man! This notice, for me, is Chêvere, Oh, my God! If there are an organ like this in Rosario Argentina I would build my bedroom at the rear of it! Sincerely, I could to fly in goodness with this instrument!
