This walk wasn’t anything different from what I usually do. A friend and I chose a starting point, along with a rough idea of where our final destination would be. Adding in parts of the greater Tokyo area wasn’t especially unusual either.
What is different though is that rather than sequencing the photos in a way that I feel works best in regards each frame’s content, colours etc., they are instead laid out in the order they were taken. An order that admittedly does work pretty well, but more than that it was simply interesting to post a document of the walk in the way it unfolded.

Hi… I love your work. Thank you for sharing so much of it. What is going on in the tunnel with the people in the garbage bag chic?
Lee says
You are very welcome, and thank you, that’s really kind.
It was quite a a surprise to see them it has to be said. They were shooting a music video. Decent bunch of young fellas too.

Great as always and interesting to see the photographs in order. That was some walk you had Lee.
Lee says
Thanks a lot, and yeah, we saw quite a variety of stuff for sure. It was interesting to show them in order too. Even better they seemed to work that way as well.

What a way to start a wander! Stunning shop front. And that matching pair of shop-houses leaning ever so slightly apart. I have marked that tunnel for a look if we ever get quite that far out of Tokyo. The bag people are well dressed for the rainy season, but I’d be seeking out a cool tunnel too were I wearing that in the summer heat. There was a local punk girl back in 78/9 who used to turn up to gigs wearing almost nothing but a bin liner. I wondered whether it was protection from the bizarre form of appreciation crowds bestowed on bands at the time (https://punk77.co.uk/spitting-and-gobbing/) Sorry, I digress, anyways looks like fashion ebbs and flows as ever.
Lee says
Thanks. Yeah, not a bad start at all. That tunnel was interesting too, even more so with the addition of the young group shooting their new music video. Thankfully though their outfits were solely for looks rather than any kind of protection.

Those bin bag shots are dystopian as heck. If you HAD decided to rearrange the shots, those tunnel ones straight after “British Coat” would have given me a laugh.
Also, the kerning on the “British Coat” sign is giving me anxiety… made up for by the gorgeous colours in the first shot.
Lee says
Haha, that’s so true. Was definitely quite the surprise find the bin bag wearing young musicians making a video in there.

The sequencing turned out well. I was captivated by the full-length bin liner robes. Seems like there’s always something unexpected on these walks of yours, Lee.

Thanks a lot. It was nice to see how well they worked in this order. And yeah, amazing how Tokyo and its environs almost always throw up surprises.
