    Hi Melina

Harajuku is an especially fashionable area of Tokyo, but some of the fashion on display can be pretty far out there.

When I arrived here over 6 years ago, Sundays (if I remember correctly) used to see loads of bands and dancers congregate near Harajuku station, and play, dance, and whatever. It was quite a spectacle. Goths, rockabillys, Beatle lookalikes, they were all there.

Sadly it has been stopped, but the fashion remains. As an example, it’s common to see people like this in Harajuku.

I’ve not explained it very well (plus being a man over 30 I’m probably not the best to ask!) but I hope that gives you a bit more of an idea.

    hi lee,
thank you! you did a marvelous job explaining this! i googled harajuku too and got a sense for what it was and is now.

it’s crazy fun, only in japan-type of fashion avant-garde-ness.

well, i’m over 30 too. i think that’s why i had to ask! ha ha ha!

thanks again. i luv tokyo times!
