Shogi on a sunny afternoon

It’s impossible to even guess how many games of shogi these two pensioners must have played over the years, or indeed what their running tally of results is, but what does seem definite is that on a sunny afternoon, there really can’t be many other places where they’d rather be relaxing.

Ah, but then the mystery would be gone. I much prefer to to take the picture and leave. Then let the image prompt my imagination.

That is a fantastic shot. (as usual) What I wonder is if they are truly friends, or friendly rivals. 🙂 Or, as happens in movies, if they know each other at all. So many unanswered questions about these two.

Thanks Lizzy. As I said to Maria above, that’s just the way I like it. I could go and ask them as I’ve seen them playing quite a few times, but I’ll let you provide your own answers!
