Still Tokyo, but so very far from the madding crowd(s)

With their staggering array of sights and sounds, Tokyo’s entertainment districts are special places to be; locations where the possibilities are arguably endless, and the only real limits are money and imagination.

Yet now and again, it’s nice to get away. A long way away. And amazingly that is still achievable in the city itself. Head west, way out west, and along with the capital’s only village, there are views that are as far from ‘typical’ Tokyo as it’s feasible to get.

No neon. No people. Not even a vending machine. Just nature.

    and no dams and embankments…
Please keep the location secret. The concrete mafia boys and girls are hunting for places like this.

Yeah, incredible isn’t it? The last such place in the whole of the country perhaps?

    Woooo, wow… That’s a beautiful place!
It’s awkward to find a place like that in Tokyo (or near Tokyo).
Sign me up for a visit when I get my trip to Japan!

It is. I was pleasantly surprised to say the least when I found it. Easy to get to as well.

I love all the layers of green, including the blue/green water. Would love to see it in the Fall too. Nice.

That’s a good point Linette, and a very good excuse to go back there.

What a beautiful place, but I bet it is depressing on the train ride home to see concrete gradually swallow up the countryside.

Luckily I cycled there, so the pleasure of simply getting home far outweighed any misgivings about the environment!

A bit special, isn’t it? I clambered down to the rocks in the bottom of the picture and had lunch there. Georgeos spot. And the sound of post-typhoon water gushing down was fantastic.

Wow, so beautifull and no concrete in sight! I didn’t realize that this still existed outside Kamikouchi in Japan.

Easy, just head towards Hinohana mura. There were signs for several waterfalls further up the road, but I was tired and didn’t have the energy to cycle further. I’ll be back there though. Should be nice and cool in the summer months.
