Stopping the crowds at Shibuya Crossing?

Traffic lights intermittently ease the steady waves of people at Shibuya Crossing, but if the intention of this man was to actually stop them completely, then it’s arguable that even King Canute would have considered him deluded.

Haha… he was like the meme:
“They said I could be anything, so I became a traffic light”

    :D…

Unfortunately a traffic light that nobody takes any notice of!

At first, I read: “Stopping the crows at Shibuya Crossing”. Then I saw the picture of that guy holding his arms in the air. Mmm. Well, I think I need a coffee 😉

    Interesting!!
He must be standing still at same position from the starting of green traffic light until it turned red
    🙂

Yeah, not a huge amount of time, but just about enough to create the effect he was after.

Aha – looks like he’s doing an online review for a Neutral Density (ND) filter for his SLR.
Basically, a Neutral Density filter cuts a large amount of visible light (that black disc he’s holding in the linked page) – so in bright daylight you can get a really slow shutter speed – enough to make all the moving pedestrians merge into a blur while this bloke and his mate stand still. Interesting effect. He still would have looked like a clown in this position though.

Good pickup to whomever found this – wow.

Yes, I was amazed to see that. The internet can be an interesting place at times.
