This is a depressing picture to me but I appreciate you show all sides of Japan. I think that is important for a photographer.

Thank you. Glad you think that way, as this is as much Japan as many of the more common images one sees of the country. Maybe even more depending on the area.

Thanks for sharing an aspect of Japan one does not usually see. But very real nonetheless. There is poverty, loneliness, and little hope for some people there.

You are welcome. Not nice, but like you said, a very real part of society. A side that gets very little coverage too, both inside and outside the country.

The faded colours with horizontal and vertical accents are amazing and you have the guy framed by the tatters of the awning, and that solitary blue boot directly beneath the blue ‘strength’ (?) character.
He is either in his own world or you are being very low profile.

Thank you. One of those moments when everything came together perfectly. Couldn’t have asked for him to be in a better spot in regards the overall frame, and then there’s that blue kids boot. Something I admittedly didn’t notice til afterwards. Above though is just the name of the place. Used to be a game centre by all accounts.

Oh, and a bit of both. When the lights changed to cross he didn’t move, so I turned and very quickly took two shots. His gaze didn’t change at all.
