Tokyo Anime Fair failure

With the Tokyo Game Show somewhat surprisingly boasting a considerable cosplay contingent, it seemed a sure bet that the far more favourable Anime Fair would be equally as festoon; however, apart from Atom Boy,

a bloke in a big suit,

and beauties bearing booklets along with other such bumf,

Tokyo Anime Fair

it was particularly slim pickings.

Although there was someone with a scythe which isn’t something one sees everyday.

I suppose.

Slim pickings, eh? Sad to hear that. I did see at AkihabaraNews.com photos of the life-size recreation of Lupin III’s car, which was way cool, and a giant Totoro balloon, but no mention of anything really exciting.

You do realise that they’ve banned cosplay at this event unless you are officially working for one of the companies? Essentially its hired booth babes only.

Ah, that explains that then. Had no idea.

Still, I did get to meet Atom Boy. And of course the man in the big suit who was good value.

Makese me happy i didn’t go now Lee, my main interest was to see cosplay from punters in the crowd and the booth babes. Girl with the scythe is a hottie!!

Yeah cosplay is banned at the event. Fair enough though. I kind of find cosplayers to be the most boring people in the world. I much prefer talking to the designers and uni student artists that the Anime Fair attracts.

I dropped by yesterday and rather enjoyed myself. Strangely I found the fact that Disney is making a Stitch spinoff series set in Okinawa to be incredibly cool!!!
