Tokyo art: Ryoji Ikeda’s test pattern [nº6]

Ryoji Ikeda’s continually shifting test pattern art project really only works with the accompanying sounds — or at least it does if you want to get the full, wonderfully immersive experience. And yet at the same time, silent, single shots, do possess an interesting starkness.

Lee is the female a part of the pattern, or just an observer to it ?

She was just a visitor like me. You can sit or stand on the edge of the lights, or walk/sit on them. Really interesting.

Fortunately when I went it was nice and quiet, so managed to get the shot with just the young woman in the frame. Saw pictures from the weekend and it was last packed.

Wow, that worked out really great, typically things like this are packed with people and nobody has a shot 🙂

Cheers, way better than I expected.

Yeah, amazing what a difference a weekday morning makes!
