Tokyo black and white eye contact?

The image itself is black and white, but the young woman’s expression is much more of a grey area.

Ha that looks like a straight up stink eye to me! 😉

Hmm, you may well be right, but it’d be nice at least to think that there’s perhaps something more going on!

There’s something about black and white. When I started taking photos there was no colour (acessible to me at least) so it was the norm, and I was more than happy to abandon it when colour came along. But now I kinda miss it and enjoy it when I see it (done well like this :-)).
I think her expression has a touch of enigma about it. I think looking down tends to give a slight upcurl to the mouth, so may be that is it.
Was that hip-shot? If so she’s definitely not looking you in the eye.

Yes, I totally agree. Don’t do as much as I used to, but good to hear you think it works for this particular shot.

I found her expression hard to read as well. She definitely isn’t giving much away. As for being shot from the hip, I honestly can’t remember. Sometimes I do, and sometimes I quickly crouch down. This, however, was shot pre-pandemic, and that feels like such a long time ago now. So long ago in fact that I can’t recall how I shot it…
