Tokyo, it has to be said, isn’t exactly blessed with an abundance of breathing space, and as far as cars are concerned, parking is at a premium in regards to both payment and position.
Yet whereas costs are difficult to cut, it is possible to cram a load of cars in a relatively confined space — a bit of ingenuity is required that’s all.
And, it goes without saying, a huge amount of patience, particularly for those parked at the top; many of whom probably forego a certain amount of sleep in order to set off on time in the morning.
A contraption that in many ways is not all that dissimilar to the still popular pastime of sliding tile puzzles.
Minus the fun of course

What if there’s an emergency in the night and you need your car? Do you have to go round and wake your neighbours up to shift their cars?
What happens if your wife chucks you out and you have to sleep in your car?
