Wearing trousers low and showing one’s underwear is one thing, but going sans undies and instead showing what’s below them is something else altogether.

I was ready to argue until I saw your photo! Way to much! Ugh!
And you should see the young women in their 20s?(sometimes they look younger!) near Kabukicho, when they bend or squat to look at store products, some of them either go panty-less,or wear very tiny thongs!,lol to their advantage most are rather flat ass so is not too heart threatening.
I just don’t have words for this one Lee……my mouth did fall open a little bit. There is a small possibility this could be a woman, the thought entered my head. But then I’m a little bit warped myself.
During the 90’s we had a very young spanish teacher who had just arrived from europe and who used to dress on the street with clothes just like that. He used to say that his friends back in Spain did the same to follow some sort of style or fashion trend and it was a curious thing to see. The pants were dressed specifically to show the buttocks and underwear. One of the girls in our class used to say that he walked like the Pink Panther (I guess it was harder to walk like that, like some sort of punk heritage from a bygone age).
.
We knew later that the father of this teacher was really worried because of his dangerous friends. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this style is still preserved in Japan to the present day. Interestingly Japan is one of those places where we can find rare pop culture items and people that have long disappeared from the streets and shelves in the rest of the world,
Interesting story. Sounds like an interesting fella too. Regardless of how out there some people look, I genuinely admire their bravery. Especially so those that aren’t just looking for attention, but instead are doing it simply because that’s how they want to dress.
Very true about Japan’s tendency to hold on to long gone trends, or seek out obscure groups or movements. Such commitment is always lovely to see.

It really is, isn’t it? Both amusing and appalling at the same time.
Al says
That is NOT a good look! 😮
Lee says
No, it’s really not, although it most definitely is a striking look!
Coli says
What a weirdo. I can’t undetstand what he wants to prove. What part of the city was this?
Lee says
An odd one for sure. It was in Kabukicho. I was just about to head to the station and then home when I saw him.
john says
A subtly patterned belt would complement that outfit nicely .. in fact ANY belt.
Lee says
Yes, and ideally a very big belt.
Guillermo says
Totally uncalled for. I wouldn’t like a rear view either… 😉
Lee says
He had at least covered that particular sight with his coat, so I guess we should be thankful for that small mercy!
Jeffrey says
He looks to be holding a newly purchased book. Imagine the thrill the clerk had selling it to him.
Lee says
One can only hope that the counter was a high one and the clerk was happily oblivious to the horrors below.

There’s really nowhere quite like Kabukicho, is there?

Lee says
Hadn’t even though of that possibility, although I’m pretty sure it’s a man. But either way, as you say, it’s still jaw dropping.

MY EYES, MY EYES!!!
Lee says
Yes, not exactly what one would class as easy on the eyes, is it…?
Marcin says
Well… here’s hoping that book he’s so absorbed in is titled “Everyday fashion for dummies” 😉
Lee says
Haha, that would certainly be a start!
