Tokyo graffiti glamour

The graffiti wasn’t a surprise — it’s what I was there for. The view looking up towards the lift, on the other hand, most definitely was.

Wow! Lee what is this place you’re at? I’m assuming it must be well known and she was posing for another person?
It’s amazing to see so much graffiti in on place. Reminds me of the pictures I’ve seen from 1980s New York. 🙂

Quite a place eh? It’s basically a narrow building with a few bars in it, but obviously the graffiti is unusual. Not sure how well known it is, but yeah, obviously known by the photographer who took the model there.

I know what you mean about New York. Reminiscent of the subway system, only a lot safer!

That’s the very definition of a coquettish look!
It may have been a surprise for you, but your focus and framing are perfect.
When struggling up the 66 steps out of the Shibuya Mandarake store the other week we came across a similarly striking visage, though with more of a punk vogue in clothes, hair and makeup. As we passed her and looked up the next flight of stairs there was a photographer waiting patiently for us to clear his shot.
Looks like you may have stumbled across a new niche market for glamour photographs.

Cheers. Glad I didn’t waste the opportunity.

Sounds like a very similar situation. Certainly not unusual in Tokyo, especially in the city’s more distinctive corners. Just fortunate that this model wasn’t averse to other people photographing her. Next I need to find one in front of a suitably shabby and rundown shop or house. Or failing that, propping up the bar in a grubby little establishment!

Lee do you typically have a business card to hand someone like this lady ? I imagine she may be strongly interested to see where this shot ended up.

I know, and normally I would have, but on this particular occasion I totally forgot. Didn’t dawn on me til afterwards. She posed for a few shots then went back to work, and so did I — It was in the middle of a photowalk.
