Tokyo interpretation

The fairly recent clamour for a change in Japan’s constitution may well be worrying for some, but with cute characters and fresh faces to the fore,

Japanese self defence force

the future envisaged will hopefully be the polar opposite of the past.

Can’t believe Hello Kitty isn’t supporting this yet…

As if with all its wars Japan hadn’t learned enough…

    Is that a F/A 18 Hornet what I’m seeing? An american fighter promoting a war-friendly Japan? It’s so hard to understand… :S

With Abe out of the picture, is there still a push to militarize Japan?

With the hawkish Aso looking increasingly unlikely to get the top job, talk of constitutional change may well be put on the backburner.

There again, even if Aso does get the nod, Abe’s lack of support proved that people are more concerned with the likes of pensions than constitutional change or abstract ideas such as building a ‘beautiful country’.

Speaking as someone with a bit of experience of design, the layout of that poster is atrocious. I’d have stuck with the cartoons and left out the hardware.

So do you get a lot of coffee with the JSDF? The male manga character looks a bit wired. I’m not sure if I would stick with cartoons and no hardware though. You’d want to be taken seriously by the guys a little more, and with hardware you give the illusion to potential recruits that they’ll be driving tanks and flying jets.
