I love the artwork, but those windows! 😮 Why doesn’t he just get new ones?!

It’s a very poor area. Lots of cheap accommodation, paid for on a nightly basis. So presumably it’s just a rented place that simply isn’t looked after…

Sadly in that area of Tokyo, and in that building, yes, more than likely…

That’s a gritty shot of someones window on the world. Reminded me of your photograph in that covered arcade near Minowabashi station a while back.
Thanks again for providing me with a fun couple of hours tracking the location down. I like street art and initially I thought I knew who the artist might be (I didn’t). It’s certainly seen better days, but it’s at least 5 years old and given the “canvas” a certain amount of decrepitation is inevitable – and probably contributed to you taking the shot.
Amusingly the cracked windows were taped up exactly as they are in your shot back in 2010 – and I’d put money on the tape being the same. So not a lot of maintenance there. The liquor shop that wall is the side of has (or rather had) another work by the same artist across the three panels of the shopfront shutters, but there is barely anything left of it now.
I’ve just noticed that if you look down the street you can see the skytree. It’s wealth inducing shadow hasn’t quite reached this neck of the woods though.

You are very welcome. Glad to hear you get some fun out of it.

Yeah, the artwork is slowly disappearing, and like you said, the other stuff on the shutters has pretty much gone. A real shame.

Skytree isn’t all that far away, and as such it’s an almost constant sight, but no, it hasn’t benefitted this particular area at all really. Hard to imagine it will to be honest. That said, because of the relatively low land prices, cheap tourist hotels have started to open up over the last few years, so changes are occurring nonetheless.
