Thanks a lot. I’d never actually walked down this stretch of the river before, so it was a very pleasant surprise.

Great shot, Lee. Perfect capture with the boat, too — it reminds me of something from Thunderbirds.

Thank you. I saw this stretch of the river for the first time, and realising the boat would be passing, my hope was they’d work well together. I thought they did in the end, so glad to hear you agree. And yeah, definitely a Thunderbirds type vibe.

The dark clouds make it very cinematic and the boat is super cool. I really want to go on it!

Cheers. 30 minutes or so later, it was clear blue skies, so very happy I got this before the weather changed. I’ve always thought these boats were cool as well, and yet for some reason I’ve never been on one. Definitely need to change that.

A city always looks different when riding a boat along a river or in a bay. Eg, the canals in Venice or Amsterdam. A ferry across the SF Bay or the Hudson River in NYC. Try it sometime!

Yeah, totally agree. Been on the more standard Tokyo cruise ships, but not one of these futuristic looking ones. Probably a god time to do so before tourists are allowed back in.

They are quite something to see go past on the river, though I prefer to take the old style brass, wood and leather boats from Asakusa to Hamarikyu Gardens, beer in hand of course.
The grey of the lighting certainly fits the plumage of the boat.
That is a lovely stretch of riverside walk and one we made much use of the last couple of visits, with the hotel being so close by. At night it was especially pleasant to stroll along.
There are occasional semi-ornate metal doors set into the bankside redbrick walls. Probably just storage for tools, but perhaps a Kappa makes its home there.

Only ever been on those boats as well. These futuristic ones could be good in winter though. Be nice and warm and the blue sky views through those uniquely shaped windows would be quite something.

When walking along I was amazed I’d never been on that particular stretch before. Not as I recall anyway. Definitely nice and peaceful. Something the lighting added to.

Great photo! The futuristic boat and atmospheric sky grab the attention at first but I really do like the buildings in the photo too. Some may find them on the blocky side but I like that a number of them aren’t the usual gray, white and brown.

      Thank you!

It was the mixture of buildings that initially caught my eye, then realised that a ship in the frame would be the ideal extra. I agree about the variety too. The yellow and blue ones really stand out. A very welcome dash of colour.
