Utterly apathetic Japanese Where’s Waldo(s)?

Or indeed Where’s Wally? depending on which part of the world you are from. An interesting regional variation that presumably wouldn’t interest these two utterly indifferent dresser-uppers in the slightest.

Great photo. The two of them are so engrossed with their phones and cigarettes.

Cheers. Yes, ciggies and smartphones come way before anything else.

    That isn’t a child friendly look! 🙂

It’s not, is it? No jolly smile like the character he’s copying.

On their way to a Halloween party, I imagine, but not very keen yet. Maybe one went as Wally, the other as Waldo 😀
I hear Halloween is really taking off and getting over the top this year, I’ll be in Japan over Christmas and looking forward to see how that translates into Japanese culture 🙂

Yes, one of each. Edging their bets!

It has become quite a big deal. Shops are full of all manner of Halloween snacks, toys and the like, plus there are costumes aplenty. From what I’ve heard, it’s a lot more popular back in Britain too. Retailers must be very happy.

The only thing I really like about it is that it keeps all the Christmas stuff at bay, but come next week the ghosts and ghouls will be gone, and those godawful christmas songs will reign supreme…

Hat… check, specs… check, blue jeans, brown shoes, hoopy tee-shirt… check, check, check, cane… cane! Bugger. Tap tap tap, “Moshimoshi – do you sell Wally canes?”.
One of my many photos taken at Shibuya crossing has a guy in a Wally outfit on it. Then again, what don’t you see there 🙂
Tell you what my eyes are drawn to in this photograph – the taxi snout. I love the taxis in Tokyo. All chrome, bright colours and ultra-polished. I was taking photos of them from everywhere, even from the hotel room 28 floors up. Those wing mirrors are so cool. They remind me of my early cars. The spotless nature wasn’t just taxis though – pretty much all commercial vehicles looked in show-room condition. And at night in the rain under the myriad bright lights of Tokyo the streets flowed with giant sized christmas decorations.

Ah yes, hadn’t noticed that. So near, and yet so far!

The taxis are very iconic, aren’t they? Really quite timeless too. The green and yellow ones in particular I like. Genuinely nice colours, and like you say, always absolutely spotless and gleaming.

Every day is Halloween in Tokyo. Zombies are everywhere. It wouldn’t surprise me if there were no-smoking stickers on the ground in front of them (Minato ward has them – no smoking on sidewalks).

More than likely. Seems to be like that in most areas now. Inside ok, outside not…
