Yes and no. He’s Wally in the UK, Waldo in North America. No idea why.

Walter, Willy, Charlie, Holger, Effi, Waldo, no idea why they felt that Wally needed localization. 🙂

No, a real odd one. In other languages I can at least understand it. But in English it doesn’t make much sense. At least not to me.

Agreed – no idea why either a Brit or American would want to dress up like that (and you’re not even in Akihabara).

          No, it’s a hard one to fathom…

I wonder whether he intentionally dressed to look like Wally, or whether it was just a coincidence!

When I initially saw him and took the photo, I leant more towards coincidence. But seeing the result later — especially the distinctive glasses — I reckon it was totally intentional.

Love the atomic boy drawing, just wondering if it is put up there by the council.

Great, isn’t it? Nah, it’s by Invader, the French urban artist: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Invader_(artist)

LOL. Excellent. Made my morning. Who knew that book was a work of nonfiction?

Did you speak with him? I wonder if he travels the world like that. I’d think it’d be a pretty recognizable thing for many people in a wide range of locales.

I know. Based on a real character, who, it would seem, isn’t all that elusive after all!

Nah, I didn’t say anything. Wouldn’t have known what to say to be honest. But yeah, there can’t be that many places where he wouldn’t be recognised.

It’s just past Tower Records on the right, when you are heading towards Harajuku.
