A lovely big smile outside a local Tokyo shop

A minute down the street from the shop below is a well known supermarket. One that was busy too, as convenience and cost understandably come first. But for a little bit more money, this suburban fruit and vegetable seller offers the priceless bonus of a lovely big smile.

She was definitely very friendly. We weren’t even there for shopping, but we still got the big smile!

A lovely photograph of a colourful grocery store, which, after a quick check of exchange rates and those leeks is 25% cheaper than the “value leeks” at Waitrose (UK supermarket chain). And with a welcoming smile like that I’d be a customer.
What’s the “Spray Mum” text for – is it a title or a product? πŸ™‚

Thanks. Ah, there we go then. Good value along with the good vibes. Hopefully the locals feel the same, and we just happened to pass during a bit of a lull

I wondered that. Didn’t even notice it til I was editing the photo, but never seen it anywhere before. No idea if it’s a title or a product, or indeed what it could mean regardless of which it is!

Mrs Cdilla suggested might be referring to a small bunch of flowers, which seems more likely in that kind of store than a deodorant advert πŸ™‚

The plot thickens. I’ve been told it has something to do with chrysanthemums.

          Maybe chrysanthemums for mums!

I wasn’t going to mention the leeks. Perhaps she is a part time leekspin girl or maybe more like Yoyoka’s ‘stickspin’ together with “cheaper than Waitrose”.

By ‘levan’ association I’ve just found that there’s now apparently a bench in Soho Square dedicated to the late great Jackie Leven (https://theafterword.co.uk/remembering-jackie-leven/) – nice.

and I must try the text again!

Funnily enough she was a music fan, as she was very keen indeed for us to go to karaoke together. So keen in fact, that if we’d agreed, I dare say she’d have shut up shop immediately and we’d have been drinking and singing in the nearby snack within minutes.

That said, Jackie Leven numbers very likely wouldn’t have been the soundtrack to the afternoon!

That is quite a co-incidence and quite a surreal but very amusing idea; his music is on Itunes.jp.
I’ll bet you were tempted to detour, if only for the photos! :O)

Yes, it would have been quite the experience, especially so considering the sounds emanating from the nearby snack we’d have presumably ended up in. And definitely, the idea of photos did cross my mind, but common sense and a previously planned destination won the day, which was probably for the best!

..and perhaps some extra practice might be necessary before going up against such seasoned exponents of the wai(l) of the ’empty orchestra’.

Without a doubt. My singing is truly awful though, and that’s being kind, so my only option would have been to try and hide behind my camera!

Bless the agenda! Mine too, and even alcohol doesn’t imagine it better.
