A truly beautiful old Tokyo shop over time

Tokyo is changing fast, with so many old buildings and businesses disappearing forever, but this traditional little fruit and vegetable shop is happily still going strong, and remains as beautifully untouched by time as ever.

The first photo is from June 2019. A shot I’d wanted for the longest time, but opening days and the weather had repeatedly made that impossible. However, even after eventually getting that one frame, a single image of such a special place never seemed enough, so on a recent return to the area, I thankfully got a couple more. It was as the light started to fade as well, which meant for something different. A nocturnal sight that did not disappoint in the slightest.

The last one with the colors and lights all matching. Wow!

Oh, I love that last photo with the rest of the street and the low-hanging clouds in the back!

Thank you very much. I wasn’t expecting that at all, but with lights and clouds it all worked out really well.

It’s a bit early to say this, but that last photograph, opening up the scene and revealing the truely magnificent evening vista, is one I am already looking forward to seeing again in the 2024 review post šŸ™‚
The green of traffic lights: When I look out over Tokyo at night – especially in the early hours and nothing much is moving, the change of traffic lights to green is a beautiful sight (to me at least). So to see them here is a real (green glace) cherry on top.

Thanks a lot. It definitely came out way better than I expected, and one I’m very happy with. So a very good chance it will.

I agree about the last shot providing an added perspective. It always amazes me how quiet Tokyo can be sometimes.

The color of the Coca Cola sign is a bit faded in the last two shots compared to the first one. Is that because it was evening/not as much light?

    Thanks!

Yeah, and this is the far west so even quieter still.

Yes, a combination of both those. Other than that it’s pretty much only the awning that has changed.

Gorgeous last shot with the matching greens. (But I am worried about their roof!)

Thanks a lot. Very happy the way the colours worked out. But yeah, they might want to keep an eye on that.
